Upgrade help.. iPhone 4- unlocked 4.0

Hi, I would be really appreciative if anyone could help me out here.

I have iPhone 4 with firmware 4.0- jail broken and unlocked- modem 01.59.00.

How should I upgrade and still have an unlock? I don't mind if it's even just 4.1 for now- just would like newer firmware, reliable and untethered.

You should upgrade using a custom made ipsw file and redsn0w

You should check for SHSHs to determine if you can restore to anything below 4.2.1

I am guessing you were only able to save 4.2.1 SHSH then right? If so then 4.2.1 is your only option for restoring. If you want to preserve your baseband just google "how make iphone 4 4.2.1 custom"

Yep..
Did the search and find two things that are putting mr off upgrading for now... GPS functionality is not reliable and it is a tethered jailbreak with 4.2.1 and my baseband.
That right?

I will wait for something more reliable.?.

Ya, I would say your best option is to wait for the untethered jailbreak to come out, then all the jailbreaks like pwnage tool should be updated properly.
