Hello All,

Normally i wouldn't post if i'm just trying to upgrade my OS but since there seems to be misleading and conflicting info on the net I think i better.

Here's the deal, I wanna upgrade my iphone 3Gs to OS 4.0 or greater (don't care which version), I need to jailbreak it and unlock cuz i'm on Tmobile. My baseband is 5.11.07 and if I understand correctly i don't want to Upgrade that baseband -it's best to stay at my current baseband? So HOW do I do this without upgrading the baseband? I'm on Windows so the PW tools won't work

for me.

If you have ios4 shsh blobs saved, then you can just shift restore to 4.0
Use an Att sim to activate (doesn't have to be active)
Jailbreakme.com to jailbreak
Ultrasn0w to unlock

You don't need to keep your baseband, the regular 4.0 baseband is perfect to be unlocked

If you have any issues, search for the keyword of each step, or post back here

Where do I find the SHSH? This is what Cydia says when I log in:

SHSH: ios 3.1,3.12,3.13,4.0,4.1

That is your SHSH. You can use pwnage tool or snowbreeze to make a custom 4.1 that will preserve your baseband. Tutorial here: HOW TO: Jailbreak iOS 4.1 with Sn0wbreeze 2.1

Thank you all for the info btw... i haven't replied cuz after i tried to update to 4.1 using sn0wbreeze i got a "21" error and haven't had the time to figured it out.

Use redsnow to enter pwned dfu first before trying to restore to the custom firmware.

Ok, a lil confused on next step..my device is empty waiting for a restore.. do i first restore to a previous version (i have 3.1), then redsn0w (which version?), then restore to snOwbreeze custom ipsw?
