Getting my butt whipped by 3gs

I have a 3gs that has 4.1 installed and jailbroken. The shsh that is saved is 4.21. I want to use pwnage tool on mac to upgrade to 4.21 ( cydia is screwed up and I want to erase all old users info) and preserve baseband. When I load pwnage toll and select 4.21 firmware it says wrong bundle. If I try to restore with older firmware I can not get it loaded because 4,21 is the only one signed. I thought this was doable . Am I wrong or is there another method?

You need to manually add the 3GS 4.2.1 custom bundle from update 3 on the dev team blog to pwnage tool. Then pwnage tool will recognize the 4.2.1 firmware.

well, if 4.2.1 was the shsh you have signed then just regular restore as that is the only firmware up to date now....if ur 3GS came with that firmware (which is the latest firmware) your not doing anything to the baseband as its already up to date


EDIT: if your 3GS came with 4.1 and u didnt get the shsh for 4.1, then u cant restore to 4.1....but to preserve the baseband i think tiny umbrella takes care of that for you

Baseband is 5.13.04 and I did not want it to update. I read devteam update#3 and it says old bootrom gs . I just wanted to confirm because my phone is the new bootrom.
