Recommended Software For Jailbreaking iPhone 4

Hi guys , I just got my new iPhone 4. It runs on iOS 4.2.1
Which software is recommended for jailbreaking. I'm new to jailbreaking so I'm not so sure. Furthermore i also néed some advices on jailbreaking . Thanks alot for your help.

What is the difference between just jailbreak and jailbreak + unlock ??

with jailbreak, adds Cydia apps and you can unlock your idevice..

Unlock means you can use the phone with an unofficial sim carrier like tmobile.

I want to jailbreak my device with redsn0w via using the tutorial from iclarified. But after doing that tethered jailbreak, will my iPhone 4 face any lag,performance or any other negative issue? And if I want to restore it will I face errors from iTunes? Because when I went through this forums , I saw members saying that when the want to restore their phone they face errors from iTunes etc. So I just wanna make sure.

Two more last thing.. Just now I installed tinyumbrella latest version. The reason why I installed that is , I read in the dev-team forum that for jailbreaking your device in untethered version in future you need to save the SHSH blobs which I have no idea what it means . But they said using tinyumbrella you could back up your SHSH Blobs. I run iOS 4.2.1 on my iPhone 4. I also save my SHSH blobs. But there is 1 problem. I always get an error saying that "Could not start TSS Server. Please do not try to restore your device" why is that so?
Finally my last question. Now I planned to do the redsn0w tethered jailbreak. But if the full untethered version comes out , how am I able to make my tethered version to be untethered. Is it possible?
Sorry one last thing, if let say, now in my un-jailbroken device I bought a game. If let say after I jailbreak, will all my apps and games still work?? This is very important to me.
Please answer my final 3 questions and I'll start on my jailbreak. Thanks for your assistance.
