Incoming Calls/SMS not working with EDGE on + SAM crashes springbrd (3gs 4.2.1 unocked)

Hi
Sorry if there's already a similar thread, I searched yesterday and today but could not find an exact answer. I have two major problems with untethered jail-broken/unlocked 3gs on 4.2.1 and was wondering if anyone could help me with either.

1: I do not get incoming calls/sms when I have EDGE on. Outgoing work fine.

2: Battery seems to be draining crazy fast and phone overheats when the phone is hooked up to the internet. SAM is supposed to fix this but it crashes springboard when I install it.


Here's my info (I'm new at this so sorry if im missing something):
Network: T-mobile USA
Device: Iphone 3gs
FW: 4.2.1
iBoot: 393.3 (not sure if i got the number right, Old Bootrom tho)
Baseband: 6.15.00
Jailbreak: redsn0w untethered
Unlock: ultrasnow

Additional things I did: set up Network settings, did carrier reset fix & MMS plus installed a few themes and tweaks/apps.

I suggest you uninstall the Ultrasn0w reboot then install SAM as it instructed here Subscriber Artificial Module. Once you have installed and got it working then install Ultrasn0w. i fixed mine problem of battery draining and overheating.

Ok, I did what you suggested and everything installed fine, thank you! Phone now says Wildcard activated (which I think is where I am supposed to be at).

I still do not get incoming calls or texts when EDGE though (I knew it was unrelated but was kinda hoping somehow if I fix one another problem will get fixed too)
