unlocked iPhone 3GS stuck in recovery unknown firmware

Hi everyone,

I have a friends iPhone 3GS that is stuck in recovery mode (DFU? The one with the usb-itunes screen) he said it is unlocked but he doesn't know which firmware he has on it. I ha ve tried this guide How to Jailbreak iPhone 3GS to 4.0 with Sn0wbreeze | Windows but at the iTunes step it told me the firmware file is not compatible.

Is there anything I can do for him or does he have to restore the latest firmware? He's not very tech-savvy so chances are I can't get any other helpful info from him.

i have the same problem with the iphone 3gs i just got it dont have any info on it, i tried doing the restore on the itunes usign dfu mode and also using black rain wich only made the iphone keep restarting it the little apple appears for aprox 7 sexonds then it corrupts and restart have tried everything but still cannot make it work

please help

try using a cfw to restore
