iPhone 3GS, old bootrom, 4.2.1, 05.15.04 - What can I do?

I just picked this up off a friend. It has updated to the latest software and has never been jailbroken. I want to jailbreak and unlock. What are my options?

You can run redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and choose intall Cydia and ipad baseband. Install Ultrasn0w to unlock if you are in desperate need to unlock.

Or you could wait a bit longer. The iPad BB has issues. Something is brewing with the Dev-Team. Patience is my recommendation.
