I managed to screw myself horribly by following a friend's bad advice when I upgraded my 4.0.1 3gs to 4.2.1 and realized it was only tethered. I managed to downgrade it back to 4.01, but now the baseband's changed and is now locked....*sigh*
So I did some research and found that 6.15.00 is unlockable. So my question, if i upgrade back to 4.2.1 and upgrade the baseband along with it, will I be able to downgrade back to 4.01 and retain the new baseband? Please and thank you...
Yeah you will, cept you'll have to kick it out of recovery with tiny umbrella but from what you've said it sounds like you've already done that. You will retain then 6.15.00 until a new bb is officially released by apple, in a 4.3 update sometime in the future, as it is impossible to downgrade bb. And I'm sure you've read, there are issues with 6.15.00 so beware!
Yeah went ahead and did it and it worked perfectly. My itouch paperweight is back to making calls once again, lol...I spent all day trying to reverse this what a waste of a new year's eve lol...and yeah, I read the disclaimer for 6.15 backwards and forwards and none of it really scares me much so whatever. I'm just not going to ever attempt to update to anything unless I'm sure its perfectly safe. Which is why I'm going to ask is there any advantage to updating to 4.1? The reason I was so eager to update in the first place was because my apps just kept crashing randomly and I assumed it was version related. So I wonder are there any significant changes in 4.1? And thanks to the one person who helped me though I went ahead and tried it anyway.
