Okay, I've been using android for a while and now I really just want to go back to the iPhone again. But don't have good credit and AT&T wants a $500 deposit.

So I'm going to be buying an iPhone off someone on craigslist. I was all up with the times on unlocking. Now I am not so much.

So is there something that when I purchase the phone if it is a "virgin" iPhone should I stay away from 4.2.1 or is just about everything okay. I'm going to be staying with a 3G or 3GS. I don't care about the iPhone 4 as of right now.

You can jailbreak with the new redsn0w on 4.2.1 its tethered right now but an untethered version is going through beta testing.

The very first thing, download Tiny Umbrella and save your SHSH blobs. This will tell you what iOS options (if any) you have and also set Cydia up for saving future SHSH blobs.

Help. I have an iPhone 3GS Old Bootrom with ipad baseband 06.15. I have tried unlocking with redsnow 1.2 but everytime it just says either "no signal" or searching. Unfortunately I don't have my shsh blobs saved so I can't even downgrade. Pls what can I do to unlock the phone. Oh, and Happy New Year.

If you have 3g or 3gs I advice to stay on 3.1.3

on 3.1.3 Jb with spirit then unlock with ultrasn0w,

if you want folders add repo.insanelyi.com to cydia then add stack.

And bigbAmo you hav old bootrom so you can dg whenever allthough you will need cfw without bb update to dg.

If you dont have SHSH for 4.0 then you wont be able to downgrade to it.

x98car: I'm having problems with the ipad baseband I upgraded to. My iPhone 3gs says network not available even after activating using SAM and installing ultrasnow 1.2. Any suggestions?

Did you try resetting network settings? Also what firmware are you on now? 4.2.1?

I'm on 4.2.1. I have tried resetting all settings... But I could try again though

Does your carrier support 3G on the iPhone frequency?

No it doesn't . Is that the reason?

Try turning 3G off then reboot.
