Trouble with activation
Hey all,
I'm having trouble activating my iPhone 3GS ios 4.0
I don't have the original o2 simcard, but I do have my own o2 simcard which works fine In other phones.
I have jailbroken it with jailbreakme and unlocked it with ultrasn0w.
I'm still getting 'waiting for activation' message.
I still have no idea what to do after searching thru google for hours. It could be a simple error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all and merry Xmas!

Your unofficial sim is not seeing your baseband as being unlocked. Have you installed Ultrasn0w yet. Check your carrier under setting to see if it is showing your correct carrier.

Yes I have installed ultrasn0w via cydia and my carrier says o2-uk.
The phone was originally used on o2. It says o2-uk on the top left of the screen but it never shows any signal.
I did hear tho a few months ago that there was a problem with new basebands. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Cheers

Your phone is activated. You could not use jailbreakme unless the phone was activated. There is no need to have original sim for the phone any sim from original carrier is good enough.
The phone may not be original o2 phone, you may have a bad sim or the phone may have already been jb and hactivated before you ran jbme.
Hactivation often prevents sim from original carrier from working.
Use tiny umbrella to see if you have shsh blobs and restore with o2 sim in phone. Only restore if you are 100 confident phone is o2.

To make sure it's an o2 phone go to apple. Type in your serial number. (same place to check your warranty) and them you will be able to see what carrier it is for.
