3GS @ 4.1, no baseband, no network, no wifi

Any and all help and suggestions appreciated! :-)

I've got an until recently very well working iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.1, jailbroken with redsn0w.

The problem: One day a while ago it said to connect to iTunes (like in recovery mode) - did so, nothing happened. After kicking it out of recovery mode using RecBoot iTunes said "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are trying to activate."

From that point forward nothing seemed to work. I've tried all iOS version from 3.1.3 to 4.1 with redsn0w, same problem every time.

The SIM card is ok, tested it in a couple of other phone. The SIM card and phone worked without need for unlocking so far, the phone was (probably) locked to that carrier though.

With sn0wbreeze I got it back to boot with installed Cydia on iOS 4.1. Unfortunately it keeps "Searching..." for a network. Reset network settings didn't help. In Settings > Network is says no network, no wifi. I can't display the baseband as the Modem Firmware button doesn't respond.

Also, the phone reboots every few minutes with a message it needs a restore.

Willing to experiment, any and all ideas etc. welcome and appreciated!

If it happened suddenly without any installation, you probbably have to buy a new iphone as this is tossed.

I suppose there's no way to check/repair? It's not exactly cheap to just buy a new one..

Well you said you got it back up with Sn0wbreeze, have you tried to go to a stock 4.1 now and see what happens?
