how do i update from 4.1 to 4.2

hey guys,
i have an iphone 3gs 4.1 unlock and jailbreak already with 6.15.00 BB.... i would like to update to 4.2.1 except every time i try it i get an error and then i exit recovery mode with tiny umbrella except it is still 4.1 firmware.. rebuild another 4.1 custom bundle and reactivate my phone... if you could tell me the step by step procedure that would be great thanks!

You need to make a custom 4.2.1 with pwnage tool and restore to that in itunes. Make sure you do not have the baseband update in it.

every time i click on the 4.2.1 bundle to make a custom bundle it says wrong firmware selected.. i downloaded it a few times to make sure it wasn't a faulty package... but same "wrong firmware selected" message

You need to put the 3GS bundle into pwnage tool as described in update #3 on the dev team blog.

i have the newer bootrom will that still work for me?

Yup it will still work for you. the only difference is you will need to boot tethered with redsnow every time you reboot after you have installed cydia.

ok so i downloaded the bundle but it won't let me click on the bundle in pwnagetool... or do i use redsnow and then install the bundle there?
