any new unlocks in the pipeline?

I have an Iphone 3gs running 4.1. I think I have the older bootrom if that makes any difference. Firmware is 05.14.02

It seems like the new unlock will work for my phone but I am extremely hesitant to use this new unlock with the Ipad firmware. The warnings have me worried. It sounds like I would never be able to upgrade anything again.

Are there any other unlocks in the pipeline? I was unlocked once before but it had no strings attached. This new unlock seems kind of sketchy with all it's warnings and problems.
