Help with resotring

I just bought a used 3gs with 4.01. Is there and easy way to delete all of the apps and contacts without having to update to 4.21. It is already jailbroken and unlocked. I also have a 3g running 3.12. Is there a way to update to 4.0 or better without upgrading the baseband so I can unlock it?

Just sync with your computer and it should clear off the apps. Not sure about the contacts though. Do not use the "erase all media and content" in settings though. That will leave you in boot loop.

For your 3G you would need a custom firmware made with pwnage tool to preserve baseband. 4.0 and up are a bit laggy on a 3G though.

I think last time I tried doing this I made a custom firmware for a 3 gs and it defaulted everything but now I am scared to try. If I make a custom 4.01 firmware and then do option restore through itunes I am scared that it will not let me restore because of the apple signing. Does anyone know if it will? I was under the impression that the only thing that itunes would let fly is 4.21 custom or not

Unless you have shsh then yes just 4.2.1
