arrrgghh 4.1 baseband 1.59 unlock?
Is it not possible to unlock 4.1 firmware which has baseband 1.59? Long story short I had to restore my iphone, and im certain I had 4.1 before when it was unlocked.
What Ive done is is restore iphone 4 with 4.1 (not jailbroken ipsw) and then run greenpoison to jailbreak. Up to there all good. Then i installed ultrasnow but I get no service signal, just one bar.
Any suggestions?

Is your baseband still 1.59.00 after the restore?

Try rebooting. Ultrasnow can be a bit buggy on iPhone 4.

Ok just to clarify before I download ultrasnow.
1) Ive restored to an original 4.1
2) Activated using limerain
Now I will download ultrasnow. All good to go ahead?

When you restored to 4.1 you got a error 1004 right?

That doesnt make sense. You sure you arent using a custom firmware then?
In any case if you are on 4.1 and have 1.59.00 baseband then ultrasnow should be able to unlock the phone. But like I said it can be buggy.

ill give it one more try, ive been resetting and rebooting and re-everything for the last day and I get nothing.
Im thinking of remaking a custom ipsw with snowbreeze any suggestions what I should be doing during the process. Some people write not to have the custom ipsw hacktivated through snowbreeze, so any tips to make the correct custom ipsw would be nice.

It is best not to hacktivate if you have a official sim to activate with. If you dont then you should choose to hacktivate.

well this is interesting, left the iphone sit for an hour on its own, came back and it had a network signal. So the unlock obviously worked. But its very unstable, for example I received a call, and as soon as I hung up, it went back to No Service again and now I am waiting for it to get a signal again.
Any ideas whats going on?
Let me add that ive had the iphone jailbroken and unlocked for months now, and this has only happened the last 2 days.

I have a jailbreak but locked iphone4( which is under contract) with V4.1&BB1.59.000. I am wondering if it affects the official sim card signal if I unlock it with ultrasnow ? Because I plan a recent trip to oversea for couple weeks. On the oversea, I wanna use the local pre-paid sim card , but the official sim card after back.

Just unlock, and when you want to get back in your official carrier uninstall the unlock. It should be fine.

There is no need to uninstall the unlock. Once the phone is unlocked and provided it has not been hactivated you will have no trouble using the original SIM when you return.
Since my phone was originally unlocked I have used four different carrier SIM cards in different countries including original SIM.

try ultrasnow 1.1 not 1.2
1.2 is buggy on 4.1.

Theres no need to uninstall it but there's no need to keep it there. Its just taking up space and it's not hard to uninstall. So what's the difference? Just install it and uninstall it when necessary, no harm done.
