I have an iPhone 3GS on 4.1 with baseband 5.14.02. I live in Argentina so I MUST have it unlocked. What should I do? First, I’m assuming, jailbreak with Limera1n / Greenpois0n so I can save SHSH blobs so I can later jailbreak untethered. Once I’ve done this, I figure I should use the 6.15 unlock (I read in sharif_hasim’s twitter account they’ve ceased to work on unlocking baseband 5.14.02).
I have a couple of doubts I would thank anyone who answers:
The dev-team’s blog says if I carry on this method I won’t be able to update to stock firmware. Does this mean I won’t be able to update my firmware through iTunes? If so, suppose 5.0 comes out mid next year (or even 4.3)… Will I be able to update somehow?
Also, since I’m already on 4.1 and won’t be able to update, once I’ve saved blobls, should I update to 4.2?
Most important… Should I use the 6.15 unlock?
Any advice is appreciated!
If you need unlock it is your only option. You should probably just stay on 4.1 and do the process with redsnow. After you will only be able to restore to custom firmware when updates come out. Gps may not work either.
If you want to go ahead with it. Just download the latest redsnow 0.9.6b6 and a copy of the 4.1 firmware. Point redsnow to the 4.1 firmware and then choose the option to update to ipad baseband. If not currently jailbroken then choose install cydia as well. Follow the instructions for going into dfu then let redsnow do its thing.
