Need Help Understanding A Dev-Team Blog Instruction
I don't understand this instruction from the Dev-Team: "If you have an old-bootrom 3GS and are already unlockable but want to get to 4.2.1, please wait til we release an “unofficial” bundle for you. Read no further."
I want to upgrade, jailbreak, and unlock a 3GS to the latest 4.2.1. It is currently running 3.1.3 and firmware 05.12.01. Is this an "old bootrom," or will I be OK to run the latest jailbreak and unlock?
Boot ROM level != firmware level. Google around, if you have a Mac you need to connect the 3Gs in DFU mode and open System Profiler to find out the Boot ROM version, if I recall correctly. (Dunno how to do it on Windows.)
if you want ipsw 4.2.1 on your 3gs you'd better hold back a little bit
this version uses a baseband check and even if you update with a custom ipsw you will still have problems..
i have a 3gs old bootrom, ios 4.1, bb 6.15 as required for unlock and i think it was the biggest mistake of my life...
I HAVE NO SIGNAL IF THERE IS NO 3G COVERAGE...
i will take it to an orange shop and officially unlock if possible...fingers crossed
