Unlocking a Limera1n jailbroken 3gs with ultrasn0w 1.2

Been looking over the comments over at Dev Team and finding it difficult to understand all the issues. I'm getting a bit confused to say the least.

I have a second user 3gs with 4.1 FW installed by previous owner. I have since used Limera1n to jailbreak this iphone. I can not find any ipsw files on my PC. I think my current blobs are saved by Cydia.

When I run redsn0w it prompts me to choose the corresponding IPSW for the iphone's current firmware. Like I said, I don't seem to have this and I'm guessing that this is because the previous owner updated the firmware before selling the phone to me.

So where do I go from here?

- Do I go ahead with 4.2 FW upgrade from iTunes and will this wipe the Limera1n jailbreak and copy an IPSW file to my PC?

I'm also somewhat concerned also about the GPS issue. Can anyone comment further on this?

You need to download the firmware manually: iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download

well, i have a 3gs also. I used Redsn0w to install base band 06.15 then use ultrasn0w to unlock, that's all. My firmware is 4.1 by the way. you have to download manually firmware 4.2.1 then use Redsn0w to install that baseband. don't update it to 4.2.1 because it has a lot of problems.

If you just want to install the ipad baseband with redsnow on 4.1 then you point redsnow to the 4.1 firmware, not the 4.2.1 one.

What's the story with the GPS issue. Is it affecting everyone?

Seems to be hit or miss with that. Some people are saying they are fine some not.
