    Default iphone 3gs unlocking

okey so i have this iphone 3gs with a model number that starts with MB so i'm thinking its fine for unlocking? but anyways it has warranty through apple and i'm looking to unlock my phone.

I'ev read all the guides and everything but this lastest unlock is bugging me a lot. Why would ultrasn0w release an unlock that could render the phone useless in the future? I'm hoping they would release another unlock that would not make me use ipad baseband because who knows what could happen in the future for it.

I can only imagine they would do it because they're saving the better ones for future releases but this seems like a work around with a disaster sign along the way. Is anyone else having that feeling about this unlock?

If you have BB later than 05.13.xx, and in desperate need to unlock. This is the only current solution.

Yea i can understand that, but it seems extremely risky to update to that baseband with no known way back or forward right now :/

Well it wouldn't render the phone useless really...it'd be forever unlockable but very obvious signs of tampering. Well forever unlockable until/if Apple releases a baseband past 6.15 in the iPhone. Considering the past few basebands have been 5.11.07, 5.12.xx, 5.13.04, 5.14.02, and 5.15.xx, it seems it will be a long line of 5.xx.xx. The question is if Apple stops updating the 3G and eventually the 3GS like they already did on the 2G at a 5.xx.xx baseband first or if the baseband does jump past 6.15 first. If Apple does stop updating the two devices first (doubt it for the 3GS tho, it's too soon) past iOS 4.x then yes, your obvious baseband change makes your device tampered and obvious to Apple. But if the baseband gets to increase past 6.15, then you can update to it and hide the tampering. But by that time (which might be a while, but hey it could be the next couple of updates who knows), how many users will have already switched to the newer model(s)? Of course some may stick to buying/using the 3GS/3G in the future or far future, but that's just something they'll have to look out for. Like iYeow said, this option is for people who really desperately need an unlock because they've had their phones for so long and haven't been able to use them. If you can wait, by all means wait because it's a safe way. But I haven't heard anything about any new unlocks recently.
