Got struck on Emergency Call screen..
Before trying to jailbreak using redsnow my Iphone 3gs had:
JailBroken using Limera1n had Cydia installed
OS :4.1 and Base band 5.14
I use tmobile sim, so in order to unlock I tried to Jailbreak again using redsnow. During that process it got stuck on "waiting for reboot" step. When I tried to connect Itunes it went to recovery mode. I restored( I guess I lost my jailbreak ? ) using Itunes, while restoring it asked me to update to 4.2. I updated to 4.2(I dont know whether I should have done that or not?).
Now again I struck on Emergency Call...
Dont know what to do from now..
I m a PC User having windows 7. I tried to xp compatibility and also did set affinity(read in previous posts) but then also it didnt help me to jailbreak using redsn0w.
1, How can I check my OS and Baseband when my phone got struck on Emergency Call screen?
2, Can I jailbreak and unlock 4.2 using redsn0w and ultrsn0w?
3, If yes how would I do that as I am getting struck on "waiting
for reboot" step?
I am sorry if I asked you too many questions, but its very frustrating for me as I have been trying to unlock my phone since the new unlock released.
Thanks in advance,,

On 4.2.1, use redsn0w 0.9.6b5. Get the stock 4.2.1 from felixbruns.de to use with Redsn0w.
In redsn0w, select the stock 4.2.1 and continue. If you need to unlock, select when prompted Cydia and update baseband options. Then continue. Then continue to follow the instructions to turn phone off and then follow the timer to set your phone to DFU. it should be fine to jb and hacktivate if you're using that version of redsn0w with a stock 4.2.1 ipsw.

Ok well, do you know someone who owns Mac? Or if you could find someone on here that can make a custom 4.2.1 firmware, I think iYeow or eyeRobot can do it, you can kindly ask them to send you a copy with the baseband update included. Then you can shift+restore to the custom firmware.
I think it might be because you are on Windows 7. Sometimes 7 doesn't work well with jb tools. Do you have a different machine to try on?

You're sure you have the version of redsn0w 0.9.6b5? And also that it is a good copy of the 4.2.1 stock ipsw?
If so, try running redsn0w as admin. Also make sure your phone is actually on 4.2.1. It could get stuck b/c you are actually not on 4.2.1.

Yes, Iam sure that Im using redsn0w 0.9.6b5 and 4.2.1 ipsw. I tried running redsn0w as admin, didnt work.
Earlier it was 4.1 but when I restored it using Itunes it asked me for 4.2 update, So i think it should be on 4.2. Anyways I tried with 4.1 ipsw also before I got updated with 4.2, it had similar problem.
As it got struck on emergency call screen..is there any way to see OS version?
Thanks againLast edited by samv18; 12-01-2010 at 10:48 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

With redsnow, did you check activate? Or b.e.t.t.e.r yet, do you have an old AT&T SIM? The emergency screen usually means waiting for activation.
Also, when you finally get to the springboard, look at Settings/General/About and Modem Firmware. Would like to verify the baseband version.Last edited by Mes; 12-01-2010 at 10:52 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

If you can't access your springboard, use f0recast from ih8sn0w.com to check

I tried with my friends AT&T SIM, did not work.struck on Emergency Call screen.
What do u mean by check activate? It didnt give me an option to check activate. I just checked Install cydia and install baseband.
I used my friends AT&T Sim, it didnt work...
Please help me..
How can I see my baseband and OS version when I could not access springboard..(struck on emergency call screen).
f0recast from ih8sn0w.com didnt work, its redirecting to greenpoison. I installed it, ran and followed the instruction it said Jailbreak failed.Last edited by samv18; 12-02-2010 at 09:46 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
