Im doing the below steps:
Before trying to jailbreak using redsnow my Iphone 3gs had:
JailBroken using Limera1n had Cydia installed
OS :4.1 and Base band 5.14
I use tmobile sim, so in order to unlock I tried to Jailbreak again using redsnow. During that process it got stuck on "waiting for reboot" step. When I tried to connect Itunes it went to recovery mode. I restored( I guess I lost my jailbreak ? ) using Itunes, while restoring it asked me to update to 4.2. I updated to 4.2(I dont know whether I should have done that or not?).
Now again I struck on Emergency Call...
Dont know what to do from now..
I m a PC User having windows 7. I tried to xp compatibility and also did set affinity(read in previous posts) but then also it didnt help me to jailbreak using redsn0w.
1, How can I check my OS and Baseband when my phone got struck on Emergency Call screen?
2, Can I jailbreak and unlock 4.2 using redsn0w and ultrsn0w?
3, If yes how would I do that as I am getting struck on "waiting
for reboot" step?
I am sorry if I asked you too many questions, but its very frustrating for me as I have been trying to unlock my phone since the new unlock released.
Thanks in advance,,

Samv18 am sorry and i know what you are talking about, its very frustrating. Dont loose hope you will get your iphone back on track, yesterday i tried what was working for most people but didnt work for me but now i got it to work, so you will get yours to work as well!
so you are positive you have the 4.2.1 now?Because if you were still on 4.1 before trying to jailbreak then you will have to use custom 4.1 in order to restore the phone.
did you try to just do the boot thing while using redsn0w?cause i noticed that for some people it worked! try to do that and see if there is any change!
but xcar98 is the expert so he knows a lot more!
Good luck!

If you are getting stuck on the waiting to reboot screen using redsn0w then you can try unplugging cord and plugging it back in, use different usb slot, try a different cable, make sure you are running redsnow in windows xp sp2 compatibility mode. If none of those work then try another computer.

Now when i went to redo the cycle I too get Iphone stuck in recovery mode and cant install the 4.2.1
can someone send me the custom firmware to [email protected] to give that a go
Also I may add its on the Ipad baseband so not sure if thats the reason i cant install 4.2.1

HI for every one
I'm new here.
I have iphone 3G, I have iTunes 10.1, I have windows XP SP3
I have unlocked my 3GS successfully to new Ipad baseband.
when i tried update my Iphone 3G, updating ended with error 1002 on iTunes
The firmware of my Iphone 3G was 3.2.1 (or something like that, i don't remember, but it was locked)
I have upgraded it using "redsn0w 0.9.6b5" to 4.2.1 using Ipad firmware (DFU mode) without updating to original 4.2.1 firmware on iTunes. I think my mistake was this.
Right now i can hardly upgrade to 4.2.1 using "redsn0w 0.9.6b5" withour iPad baseband, but wifi-bluetooth-modem...functions are not working and iTunes shows error 1002 when i try to upgrade firmware (even in DFU mode).
How can I solve my problem?
Should i upgrade with custom firmware 4.2.1 on "redsn0w"?
or give me advice.

this was from some one else :
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!YOU SAVED ME BIG TIME!
SO HERE ARE THE STEPS FOR EVERYONE WHO GOT STUCK TO RECOVERY MODE:
1. LAUNCH REDSNOW, USE 4,2,1 ORIGINAL FIRMWARE CLICK ON PUT INTO DFU MODE,WAIT TILL THE PHONE GOES INTO DFU
2. LAUNCH ITUNES, OPTION/SHIFT RESTORE CHOOSE THE 4.2.1 CUSTOM FIRMWARE(ASK X98CAR TO SEND YOU ONE, I USED THE ONE HE SENT ME), IT WILL TAKE FEW MINUTES THEN IT WILL WORK JUST FINE!!AT FIRST IT MIGHT SHOW YOU THE EMERGENCY CALL ONLY, BUT AFTER 2 SECONDS IT WILL JUST SHOW YOU THE NORMAL SCREEN
xcar98 should i try to unlock to jailbreak it again?i had to write in capital letters, you have no idea how happy i am now!THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES!!
CAN YOU SEND ME ONE plz
