iPhone 3G Unlock

I have an iPhone 3G with 3.1.3 and modem firmware 04. 26.08. The thing is tht i want to upgrade to 4.2.1 and also be able to unlock it...can this happen????? and if possible can u give me the guide for both jailbreaking and also unlocking...... is there any problems i cud get by this update and wat abt any official sim problems....thnx in advance

Its fairly simple. I did it for one of my phones last night. The way I did it, I clicked on the sticky at the very top of this forum page. Well not this one, hit the back button and you will see what I mean.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and links will come up with guides that make it easy to do.

There it will show you everything you need to do to jailbreak and unlock your phone.

If you want to go to 4.2.1 and preserve your baseband then you will need a mac or someone with access to a Mac to make a custom 4.2.1 firmware with pwnage tool so that your baseband will be preserved so that you can still unlock after updating.

That method will not preserve baseband. That method does the opposite and updates you to the ipad baseband. While this can be unlocked if he is already at a lower baseband that can be unlocked he should stay there at all cost.
