    Default iPhone 3gs iOS 4.0.1 4.0.2

If my iPhone 3GS is with iOS 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 jailbroken and unlocked, and I need the unlock, should I upgrade to iOS 4.1 or 4.2? What is the best procedure here?

    Thanks!

Not exactly sure what you want to do... If you have 4.0.1 and baseband 05.13.04 it can and I think you said unlocked. Then your good...

If what I am reading into it is what I personaly want to know. What the best firmware you want to goto and still be unlocked then the answer is how far you want to go and what are you willing to loose.

From what I have read it you can now goto the newest 4.2.1 with the ipad patch method and update baseband to 06.15.00 but if you do this you may never be able to go back without having important files and even then it will be risky cause apple knows what your running???

Option 2 is you can safely get onto 4.1 and still be unlocked by keeping your existing baseband. Cause apple can not tell which one you are on unlike on 4.2.1

Also depends on what 3GS you have...Older bootrom can easily be rebooted cause it will be an untethered JB. Newer bootrom you will have to use a computer to reboot a phone if any problems come up like your power dies or you install something on cydia.

I would like to update safely to a newer iOS..

I think, based on what you said, the best option is going to iOS 4.1 so I can keep my iphone baseband, right?

Using windows, I should use sn0wbreeze? Mac I know I can use PwnageTool.. is there a right version of pwnagetool or the latest is good?

    Thanks
