iphone stuck on "connect to itunes" screen after failed jailbreak
after attempting to use redsnow to jailbreak my iphone i am now stuck on the "connect to itunes" screen... I did upgrade to 4.2 before the attempt.
I also attempted to use PwnageTool on a friends mac... but for some reason it would not find the ipad firmware (it was on the desktop but said it wasnt the right bundle)
i also tried using a different PC it came up with the same results... thanks to any who read this and many thanks to those who can give some some advice

So you are version 4.2.1 right? You where at the part when it had cable and connect to itunes and had slide for emergency? Then you used redsnow and tried to jailbreak it. what ipsw did you use? Try running redsnow over and over until it works. you should see a hardrive on the iphone and then after that it will go to pinneapple.

i get the cable to itunes but no "slide for emergency"
i used 4.2.1, it goes to the pineapple screen and goes as far as "flashing baseband" then it appears to reboot and the cable screen comes back up

You're stuck in the recovery loop.
Happened to me on one of the iPhone 3G's I jailbroke and unlocked on 4.2.1 with redsn0w yesterday.
Here's what I did.
1. Kicked out of recovery mode with tinyumbrella(it restarted then went back to looping recovery)
2. Ran itunes and restored to 4.2.1
3. Opened redsn0w and jailbroke(don't check the ipad BB update button-you've already updated it and it's whats causing the loop)
It should be solved now(check in settings>about to ensure your BB is updated.
Thanky Thanky PLZ

I can't see if the new baseband is even there... still on the cable screen.
the furthest the jailbreak gets is the "flashing baseband" screen, never fully loads...

To clarify you will need to use a custom .ipsw made in pwnge to restore to 4.2.1 now as you have updated your baseband.
You can downgrade to other iOS through itunes and the normal .ipsw if you have saved SHSH blobs.
Even if you downgrade your baseband will stay on the iPad BB.
Personally, I recommend downgrading- out of all the iPhones i have jailbroken on 4.2.1 they all have springboard crash issues.
