    Default Warning!!!!!!

Guys do yourself a favor and keep the he'll away especially if u r 3GS no way back no way to update 4.3 if true weeks/days away do a search look at the probs 4.2.1 is a buggy of crap

Updating to bb 6# is just stupid!!!! It's I pad !!!!

Do yourself a favor look at the warning!!!!!!!!

    WARNING:
YOU DO THIS AT OWN RISK! PLEASE
    UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCE
    OF UPDATING TO 06.15

There is no way to come back down from 06.15, and there’s no hiding the baseband version from Apple. You’ll be voiding your warranty in a very obvious way.
If some future baseband comes out with a critical fix, you won’t be able to update to it if it remains down in the 05.xx sequence (then again, you wouldn’t update to it if you wanted to keep your unlock anyway).
Starting with FW 4.2.1 if you have 06.15 on your iPhone you won’t ever be.

I am sure they understand the consequences of having an ipad baseband.
    They needed an unlock badly.
    Thanks for the advice.

So why did they make it so we had to upgrade to the 6.15 band instead of unlocking the band with 4.2.1

as long as my iphone is unlocked and can use it for so many months, years to come i would care less about the new update or whatever version may come. im just glad and happy that i can use my iphone now with my T-mobile prepaid plans. thanks for the warning though.

If you are happy with possibly being stuck on 4.2.1 forever even when all of the apps are asking for a higher firmware later then you are in good shape. One of two things are going to happen: They release another baseband higher than the iPad's that can be unlocked or you will have to use custom firmwares forever on the phone. Either way you win. As long as the firmwares can be continued to be jailbroken.

I agree.. I do not agree with the avenue the dev team took. It was very creative but has massive implications.

Its one of those things that people will regret in a few months I imagine. Seems like we are getting close to checkmate...

This is huge. I have a 4 that I will have to hold off on unlocking until, hopefully, something a little more flexible comes along. I do not require an unlock though so my opinion is super biased.

The 4 unlock will be more like a traditional unlock

One the funny side to me, Is the number of members that are still on 3.x firmwares and now when this exploit is released, they all want to upgrade.
I'm staying far away from it till we learn more.

I don't think moving to 4.2.1 is worth the risk

the reason i went this route is because i got 2 iphone 3G that was accidentally updated to 4.2.1 and was running out of time coz im sending them to my family in the Philippines so they can use it.

although i still got my 3GS with 4.0 fw and 5.13.04 bb jb/unlocked that im currently using right now which i wont be updating for awhile until there is a better upgrade.

Yeah, moving towards 4.2.1 is a bad idea, 4.3 is coming out to fix those bugs of 4.2.1

frankly, I don't believe most users willy-nilly unlock just to see if it works - they have a need to do so. With the unlock exploit plugged on the 05.14 bb's and up, it was very creative of the dev-team to give us the option and from all my readings, there was certainly a rabid demand - no one is being forced to unlock and the warnings are perfectly clear - although maybe they need to be translated into a few more languages to avoid any misinterpretations

I have unlocked a few 4.2 phones today, and I have explained that there is no way back, but they all wanted the unlock... however, what I did whas jailbreak with redsn0w, installed the iPad BB, then ran sn0wbreeze for reverted to 4.1 so that the jailbreak wouldnt have to be tethered...

worked out really well in the end.. then I came across a 3G, and the 4.2.1 jailbreak went great and was untethered...

Thank you yo the people who made this possible.

not really stupid if you need to unlock to use your phone rather than keep it as an ipt - or fancy paperweight!

Assuming following situation: 3gs, new bootroom, on 4.1 with bb 6.15! (of course 4.1 blobs saved)

Now: iOS 4.3 comes out (or any other new iOS), will it be possible to update to 4.3? do i need a custom firmware to update? how do i get it? is it easy to get?

i mean, it is not the same as a custom firmware for the unlock situation at the moment...just unsure if i should go for the ipad bb or not!!
