A Tale of 2 3GSs: 4.2.1 / 06.15, 1 works, 1 says "unable to load network list"
Hmm. This is odd. I have 2 16GB 3GSs which I upgraded to stock 4.2.1, then ran through Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 to install the iPad 3.2.2 baseband, then ultrasn0w 1.2 as the Dev Team instructs. 3G is off on both.
One 3GS works fine with my T-Mobile SIM. The other shows "no service" and under Settings > Network displays the lovely message "unable to load network list."
Do I have to go get a new SIM if it works in one 3GS but not the other? Could this be a hardware issue (if so, I bought this 3GS on eBay and thusly am SOL).
Advice from the Masters would be appreciated,

I re-ran redsn0w and reinstalled the 06.15 baseband a third time. T-Mobile, SIM, still no go. Then I turn on Airplane Mode and back again... and it worked!
But there was one problem... ultrasn0w was NOT installed. WTF?
So then I reinstalled ultrasn0w, and it's coming up T-Mobile consistently on the "broken" device. Gotta be the SIM, right?
I have a 3G on the 5.13 baseband, or whatever one that didn't need to be upgraded to the ipad baseband...and I still get unable to load network list...what's up?
Go through the redns0w process two or three times, uploading the 06.15 BB if you have to (if you're on an unlockable BB, stick with that!). Then install ultrasn0w, insert your SIM, REBOOT the phone, and turn on and off Airplane Mode a time or two.
Hopefully by that time, you will get it to work. Good luck.
So you're saying, if I don't need to upload the 6.15 BB (I already have it on my phone) then to don't check the box?
and you're saying, download the necessary updates from cydia, reboot, install ultrasn0w, insert my sim BEFORE rebooting the phone (maybe when it has the "Reboot device" button?), then turn airplane off/on a bit?
If you already applied the 06.15 BB, then go ahead and do it again using redsn0w. If you did NOT do this, and you still have an unlockable BB, then do NOT apply the 06.15 BB.
And yes, try the steps I outlined above. Good luck.
I've restarted it with redsn0w 5 times now, inserting the sim AFTER I install ultrasn0w (where the screen says "Reboot Device"), reboot it, turn off airplane a couple times, and it's still searching for a network..
Ive been using this BB with no problems. Out of the blue I started
getting "no service" yesterday. If I re-flashed the baseband with 06.15 it
would worked for a short period of time. I tested my Sim card
in my blackberry and it seemed to work fine.
I reset my network settings after "turning off" notifications.
I have been using the phone with notifications turned on. I have
allowed a few apps to push notifications. Regardless I am getting service
back with it turned off....100% of the time.
If i turn notifications back "on" i am losing service again.
