I bought an iphone 4 from virgin because i am switching to them from rogers and when i put the Virgin sim card in my brother's iphone 4(from rogers) it works. but when i put my current virgin sim card in my wife and son's 3gs, it doesnt work. why is this?
so its like this
Virgin iphone 4 works with rogers iphone 4 Sim card
Virgin iphone 4 doesn't work with any 3gs
by the way i have the iphone 4 sim to 3gs adapter and it works fine.

could be that the iphone 3gs isnt factory unlocked ?

You need to jailbreak and then unlock the 3GS. What firmware is it on and which version of baseband (modem firmware) does it have?

Your 3gs is not factory unlocked whereas iphone 4 is.

If they are all unlocked it should work try turning of the phone and make sure your sim works...restore at last resort and search google for a carrier bundle and search carrier reset fix and carrier bundle fix. You should find a repo....

i'll try that, its just i think that virgin is a CDMA network and Rogers is GSM. but then it won't work on the other iphone 4, well virgin uses sim cards though so i have no clue. i'll try what you said though
worked thank you slayoxus
