I hope nobody was referring to me as a "n00b" I've had all 4 gens of iPhone and have bin in the game since the original jailbreak. I do not need to unlock my phone as it's factory unlocked from apple (uk) I was just correcting your post about using 4.1 with custom firmware.

No that baseband cannot be unlocked. But you can use the new method of updating the baseband to 6.15.00 and then unlock. You can use the new pwnage tool or redsn0w to do it.
