I don't see anything wrong with people helping those that are less tech-savvy jailbreak and unlock their phones.

Those scammers always irritate the heck out of me. But some people are so desperate for an unlock, they'll resort to anything.

Next those guys will be adding to the list of benefits of the program:

"Allow true flash to run on iPhone"
    "Dual boot iOS and Android"
    "End global warming"

Are you serious? They are promising to unlock the 5.14.02 basement, which cannot currently be unlocked. $25 for something that won't deliver. And besides that, you should never pay for jailbreak/unlock software which will always be free. There are guides out there, especially on YouTube, to help less tech-savvy people.

You may approve of countless of desperate individuals seeking a 5.14.02 unlock falling for this trap, but this is all wrong.

That's ironic ....I do believe they are after unlocking "basements" not "basebands"

Just FYI, people who tried this do confirm it's no different than any free stuff on the net.

    Cheers

Ya these people are doing nothing more than taking what is freely available, slapping a price tag on it and calling it theirs, which is seriously messed up. Then they lie they have a unlock for something like 5.14.02 and string you along until the free one comes out.

To the Captain's point, many of you don't understand. Red Hat charges for Linux, which can be had for free, because some people don't want to be bothered with updates, etc. The tools are free; if you don't wish to use it and would rather pay someone else to do it for you, there's nothing wrong with that.

My issues with these guys is promising something they can't yet deliver: an unlock for the 5.14 baseband.

I have no issue with what Captain said as far as some people just want to pay for the unlock, have it done for them, and not worry about how it happened. These online sites though are just directing you to info and tools that are readily available to people. So the person paying for the unlock still has to do the steps to unlock it themselves. So if they can manage to follow step by step from someone charging them, they can certainly manage it from someone not charging.

Forgive me, I trust my iPhone spellchecker too much, apparently.

I am quite serious. Many people cannot jailbreak and unlock their phones because they are computer illiterate. I help many of my friends accomplish this every time a new firmware is released. Half of them I actually get the chance to sit down with and walk them through the process, but they still don't get it. I have them in a group on my phone and send them a text not to update when the newest firmwares are released. Do I approve of promises made that can't be delivered? Of course not. That would be ludicrous.
