4.1 is a piece of cake. Use PwnageTool 4.1.2 (Mac) to create a custom IPSW
Preserves baseband. Cydia/ultrasn0w unlock. You get an untethered jb (no PC required to reboot) & any-carrier-SIM.

Yes, but you will need to use pwnagetool (Mac). For windows you can use a pre jailbroken .ipsw and use redsn0w to put in dfu mode. Confused? Or want to learn more? Look around the forums.

Great that's exactly what i wanted to know
As for sn0wbreeze it's not capable of doing so while being untethered?

Normally sn0wbreeze is a windows port of PwnageTool, but at the moment it's a little behind. It'll work, but a few lingering issues.
Hense PwnageTool alone for Mac and (PwnageTool + redsn0w) combo for windows users.

PwnageTool + redsn0w for windows. Care to elaborate?

Create a custom firmware w/PwnageTool (or have a friend create it or use google). Then use redsn0w to set-up DFU mode, then shift/restore/select custom w/iTunes to load it. Cydia/Ultrasn0w for the unlock.

I was aware that their was a way to run it using a virtual OS of some sort but it's not worth the trouble.
Also was wondering if your phone is hactivated does it cause any problems or differences if i were to activate using a sim card?
