So my iphone has been stable for some time. 3gs ios 3.1.2 7D11 & firmware 05.11.07 unlocked w blackra1n. Carrier is Rogers in Canada. Itching to upgrade ios to 4.0 or 4.1 for all the new features. I'm concerned about losing my "unlock".
Can you recommend the best jailbreak/unlock route for me? Should i uninstall blackra1n first?
P.S. Just tried jailbreakme.com. Nothing happens. Must be incompatible with my present config.

The only way to upgrade and keep your unlock is with a custom built firmware from Pwnage Tool which is a Mac only program. You have two options. One is to find someone with a Mac and do it on their computer or find and download a custom firmware.. then use the newest redsn0w on windows to enter DFU mode.. then restore to the custom firmware.
Just upgraded my iphone3gs to ios 4.1 using instructions at iclarified.com (had to get the pwnage tool elsewhere because limewire is no longer available). I also ran tiny umbrella. Everything appeared to go smoothly. ios is 4.1 and modem firmware stayed at 05.11.07 but i can't see my carrier Rogers.
Where's my phone service gone?

Downloaded Ultrasn0w from Cydia on iphone. Now I have service.
