Restore on un-locked iphone

Does anybody know if doing a restore on an unlocked/modded iphone through itunes will reset the phone back to original factory settings? Is it then technically re-locked like it came out of the box?

NO, been said numerous times

you'll need to jailbreak again, but the baseband will remain unlocked (sim unlocked) since the modem firmware is not flashed during restore. I did this last night and just had to transfer the modified lockdownd file over again to get rid of the invalid sim error when that came up when i inserted a non-at&t sim.
