Rogers 3G iphone question

Hey guys i have a rogers 3g iphone it was on 4.1 with modem 05.14.02 which unlockable at the moment. I downgraded the firmware to 3.1.3 because it runs smoother. Anyways the question is. I put in rogers sim it activated and works fine. Then i tried my telus sim it asked me to plug it into itunes and then activated it and did a carreir updated the carrier update was older 5.2 and not 8.0 but everything works with my telus sim. does this mean it is officially unlocked? I wanted to bring the phone back to malaysia to use with maxis. so i wonder if it will activate with a maxis sim too.

is this normal or am i just lucky?

Sounds like it is Factory unlocked. You could try one of the other carriers in Canada before you leave but it all sounds positive.

ya I'm hoping so which is kinda weird since it's a rogers iphone but i'm hoping it's not unlocked only to canadian carriers.
