Unlocking Iphone version 2.1 and 02.11.07

HI I have the iphone 4 but a friend asked me tonight if I can unlock this one for him.

I'm assuming it can could someone steer me in the correct direction.

It's older so I want to make sure I don't mess things up.

Hit restore in Itunes to the latest and then follow this guide. It will hactivate, jailbreak and unlock all in one process.
Download 3.1.2 ipsw , Redsn0w 0.9.4, BL 3.9 and BL 4.6 from here :

Run Redsn0w to jailbreak, check Cydia, unlock but not already pwned.

will this then upgrade to 4.1 do i keep his baseband.
