ok i i tried to download ultrasn0w and it said "couldnt connect" now its been "reloading data" for a few minutes. normal?

It could take a few minutes, hmmmmmmmm. if by the time you read this it is still in re-load mode. Hold home and power button, hard re-boot, open settings/general/about and tell me what the modem firmware is, make sure you on 5.12 3Gs 3.1.3 firmware.

Yes, It will work.

You could also update to 4.0.1 and use Sn0wbreeze, build a custom firmware, jailbreak and unlock still

when i install it says "could not activate cellular data network" is that a problem? and then prompt me to restart springboard?

For 3gs on 3.1.3, you need to install T-Mobile US - Postpaid for Legacy postpaid and flexpaid plan from Cydia (Cydia.pushfix.info) then setup as follows:

Cellular Data
Apn: internet2.voicestream.com
Username:
Password:

MMS
Apn: wap.voicestream.com
Username:
Password:
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servelets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080

The settings go in on your phone, add them there.
settings/general/network/cellular data network.

Just type in T-Mobile, and then hit search, scroll through the results until you find what I told you then.

i dont see cellular data network. could it be because i dont have a data plan on this line? or because i havent put my tmobile sim card in yet?

i typed "t-mobile" in cydia and didnt see anything that you mentioned. i see "t-mobile us carrier"?

can anyone else help?
