iPhone 4 question
Maybe I'm missing something I have a brand new iPhone 4 not unlocked. I have tmobile and I want to use the iPhone on it. Can I have it unlocked at apple? Or is it not possible to unlock it? I noticed the sim card is much smaller? I've searched and read but I'm still confused on the whole topic?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank youLast edited by daceptikon; 10-05-2010 at 02:04 PM.

you can (if you have completed your contract) ask you operator to unlock it usually for 20-30 quid...
Being an i can be a lot of pressure. you have to live right up to the small point.

What do you mean "completed my contract?" I have no contract I have service with tmobile and purchased the iPhone without a contract.

I'm sorry, I meant Settings > General > About > Modem Firmware.
If you are on 4.1 though, that means you don't have an unlockable baseband, unfortunately. I'm not quite sure how to go about unlocking it through Apple or AT&T though since I've never dealt with it before.

Thanks for the help I called tmobile and they told me they can't unlock it I have too on my own and it looks like I will have to way until they can do it on 4.1 so this phone is pretty much useless to me at the moment.
I also have an iphone 4 on 4.0.2 is that FW too new also?Last edited by daceptikon; 10-05-2010 at 05:03 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Settings > General > About > Modem Firmware
What number is listed there? That number is the baseband and it will determine whether your iPhone is unlockable or not.
