Upgrade baseband on unlock iphones

Hi,

I've read that most iphone user need to preserve older baseband with new iOS update for jailbreak, to allow regular use. And I am wondering if jailbreaking normal iOS update with upgrading baseband on an unlock iphone affect its usability?

If you have a factory unlocked iPhone is ok except for jailbreak, no jb for 4.0.2 and 4.1 but if you are software unlock your are lost and will have to wait for a new unlock tool, like dev team said it may never be unlocked but they always find a way
