stuck on valid sim without pin to unlock please help

hi guys i m new to iphone use,i bought my iphone 3gs i think it is mc model which was running 3.1.3 and it was jailbroken,couple of days back i ugraded to 4.0.1 via shift restor method and after that all problem began,it is locked and i dont know how to unlock it,i try to custom restore again but itune gives 1600 and 1601 errors, i tried snowbreeze and redsnow but red snow gives error un able to recognise ipsw, my device has shshs stored on cydia for 3.1.3,4.0 4.0.1, i dont know how to go about please help me

make sure that you have this 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com in your host file

yes i have that too but itune doesn seem to redirect to cydia
