Iphone 4 wont activate.

Bought it on craigslist.

checked the serial on apple and says supported carrier is att. so i go on ebay buy att sim card.
doesnt work. asked a friend to borrow his att sim card to activate, didnt work. so thinking there was a problem with the sim cards. i go buy another one which also didnt work.

itunes screen says sim card is not supported. there is no warranty on the phone, can i still take it to apple?

You can take it to apple and they can test it but they may ask to lookup carrier info. But to me it sounds as if the phone may not be reading SIM cards properly. Id say try another PC if not then lookup how to downgrade ios and goto ios 4 not 4.0.1 and then try activating with SIM if that doesnt work then its probably the SIM card slot messed up.

it actually is on 4.0 so yeah, ive had it for a while, should have taken it to apple a while ago.

how did you check the serial with apple?

the sim tray slow has serial and imei numbers. you put that into the apple site.
