3194 error

can someone please help me recently i downgraded my iphone 3gs from 4.0.2 to 4.0 it took a while had to get passed the error messages but got there in the end. now i want to downgrade again from 4.0 to 3.2 but keep getting error message 3194, now i done the hosts file thing with notebook when i downgraded from 4.0.2 to 4.0 but it does not seem to work anymore. please someone help me. thanks

Do you have SHSH for 3.1.2 (I assume that is what you meant because there is no 3.2 for iphone).

If you dont have SHSH for 3.1.2 though it isn't going to work.

The reaseon i want to downgrade is i am tying to unlock a mates phone he bought online he does not know what sim it takes so i am trying to unlock it without a sim,and someone told me you can unlock on 3.1.2 without a sim. do you know can you unlock on 4.0 without a sim or is there a way to find out what network it is locked too. sorry for all the questions. thanks

Follow the first part of my guide using tiny umbrella to see if the phone has SHSH for 3.1.2. If it doesn't then you cannot downgrade. And yes the info you have is correct, for 4.0 you need a original carrier sim or a phonebook sim to activate before you can jailbreak and unlock.

no it dosent have shsh for 3.1.2. is there a way of checking what sim card the phone takes

You can probably check the model number and google what country it comes from that way.
