Default NEW IPHone 4. What IOS before it's activated? A way to find out?

I just got a new IPhone 4 which I'm pretty sure has the 4.02 IOS installed on it.

If I can't jailbreak it I'd like to just continue using my jailbroken 3gs until a jailbreak is available for the IP4.

Is there a way to see what IOS is installed on my new IPhone 4 before I activate it?

    Sealed (Unopened) iPhone
A typical iPhone Serial number: 7T727XYZWH8

Using the above as an example

    digits 1 to 3 (7T7) = Year / Batch code
    digits 4 to 5 (27) = Week of manufacture
digits 6 to 8 (XZY) = Unique identifier part of the S/N
    digits 9 to 11 (WH8) = 8Gb model

Field test mode has been disabled, so try finding out if its been produced in weeks 1-9. That's probably your best bet. Mine says 88, which makes me assume it starts in week 88. If your first two digits are between 88 and 97 you're good.
