unlock/sim problem
i need help

i just bought an iphone 4 and recently jailbreaked/unlocked it for tmobile, so i inserted my tmobile sim and it works fine, but when i turned off the phone and turned it back on, i dont get any signal after, the tmobile carrier is not showing on the screen and i just have 1 bar
and when i take out the sim and reinserted, it says invalid sim/sim failure.
but when i reboot(using the sbsettings), and instead of turning off the phone and turning it back on again, the unlock works, No invalid sim/simfailure message showing and tmobile carrier logo is on but then again i turned off my phone and turned it back on, then all those failure things reoccured.Last edited by mindblown; 08-16-2010 at 01:25 PM.

Some packages from Cydia requires a reboot
Sometimes I drain the battery

i have the same problem my friend. It's weird. I notice sometimes i have to reboot the phone 3 or 4 times to get it to pick up the t-mobile signal.

I also have the same problem and it's starting to get really annoying.
I also get 1 to 2 signal bars in the same place whenn sometimes I get 4 to 5 bars.
If i try making a call with one signal bar I lose phone functions and have to reboot again sometimes many times.
I also notice that I lose my 3g service and have to reboot to get it working again. Again sometimes I have to rebhot 3 or 4 or more times.
I never had this problem with my 3gs.
Anybody know what's up with this? Will installing the patch make it better?

Make sure 3G is off in settings. Don't install any activation "patches" as those are not for newer devices.

I have similar problems.
iPhone 4 iOS 4.0
ultrasn0w 1.1
hacktivation patch
My regular carrier is FIDO but I needed the hacktivation patch because after unlocking with ultrasn0w my phone would not accept other sims (it would tell me to connect to iTunes) until I applied this patch. I use a T-Mobile card when in the US and Telcel card when in Mexico.
Almost every time I reboot my phone, I will lose my signal. As described above, it shows 1 bar, no carrier logo, and eventually says no signal but it will stay with the 1 bar for quite some time (it just shows 1 bar but really I have NO SIGNAL, CARRIER LOGO IS GONE).
I also have this happening randomly even when my FIDO sim is in and I am not doing anything with the phone. I'll suddenly drop to 1 bar, lose the FIDO logo, and have a dead phone in some cases 30-40 minutes before I can restore my signal either with multiple reboots or just waiting it out.
I suspect this has something to do with the hacktivation patch that's required but I am not sure.
I really want this issue figured out.

As a follow up, I can confirm the issue lies with the hacktivation patch. My phone yesterday suddenly lost signal and carrier logo and dropped to 1 bar. I immediately booted up Cydia and removed the 'hacktivation patch' my signal was instantly restored.
