iphone 2g on att need help bypass activation

Ok here is the story and maybe im doing something wrong, I have bought an i phone 2g that is supposed to be on att but i use another carrier. it wont let me do anything untill i activate it on att. i have downgraded the firmware to 2.2.0 and upgraded it to 3.1.2 but have had no luck bypassing the activation. HELPPPPPP!!! im so mad right now i could break this phone. What do I do

Let Itunes restore to 3.1.3 and then follow this guide, you run Redsn0w at emergency screen. It will activate, jailbreak and unlock all for you.
