AT&T gophone sim card in an unlocked iPhone 3G says no service

I have a 3G 4.0.1 iPhone and I wanted to use it with a AT&T gophone sim card but when I put it in it says no service or one bar. I heard that you can't use an AT&T sim card with an iPhone unless it is the iPhone one. Or is something wrong with the phone? Should I switch to t-mobile?

No there's a way to do it, I'm on my phone so I don't have a link but visit theappleblog.com and search for pre paid iPhone. It has a guide on how to use your sim

When I get to the create a profile, it says cannot install. What can I do?

It still says no service, what should I do?
