iPhone 3G Unlocked With issues

Okay so heres the situation i have a iphone 3G with os 4.0 baseband 5.12.1 and bootloader 6.04 recently unlocked with Ultrasn0w that all went fine but the weird thing is i can acess the mobile internet even though i get Orange 3G but no signal :S
but i can't send / recieve texts or phone calls

i've tried the whole airplane trick and resetting network settings and to no avail so is there a way to manualy input sms settings ect ?

Have you added the apn settings? What service ate you on?

Well the apn settings seem to be embeded in the phone as the moblie Internet works And I'm with orange and yes my sim card is 3G enabeled

Are apn settings both the same for Internet and mms they should be. Not familiar with your carrier

It could be that the service you are on 3G is different that AT&T try turning off 3G

I looked up orange settings it should say under Apn -Internet and Username orange and password orange if not there's a reset Internet settings apply those and reboot idevice write down any mms settings that are listed you may have to type those back in

yeah i input all the apn settings for orange and still nothing .... but i found this very strange that if 3G is turnt on i get signal and when its off the signal gets one bar then dropps off completely :/

Yes that is very messed up. Have you tried to re- jailbreak and unlock ?

yeah many times i can't figure it out maybe i should down grade to sometihng like 3.0 ?

What firmware are you on now? And how did you jailbreak and unlock

its currently running 4.0.1 and i used redsn0w 9.5b5 to jailbreak it and ultrasn0w 0.93 to unlock

I didn't think there was a unlock for 4.0.1 downgrade to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 I'm on 4.0 and it's slow and sucks battery down. Do that and let me know

errr tried that lol hence why i mentioned 3.0 , and yeah 4.0 is shite on the 3G lol its slow and tempermental looks cool though

If you know anybody I have 2 3G jailbroken and unlocked one one 4.0 and one on 3.1.2 both 8 gigs and in great shape and also have a 16 gig 2 g. Have you ever had your phone working on orange

no that one no my 2G works fine , but i'm thinking of just buying a iphone 4G unlocked dear i know but meh i'm going pay as you go when mine runs out lol just wanted to tide my self over with the 3G as the 2 is so slow

Just read if you update to 4.0.1 the baseband goes from 5.13 to 5.14 and no unlock must try to downgrade did you save shsh blobs in cydia

3G should be able to be jailbroken and unlocked:

Yeah I know in theory it should but it doesn't !
