Can 3GS running latest firmward 4.0.1 be unlocked?

Is it possible to unlock 3GS with the latest firmware (4.0.1)? It's my first time having an iPhone and I would like to unlock it since I want to use it via prepaid.

I heard about the new hack coming out this week. Is that it for people in my situation?

Thanks a lot. I tried searching, but I really don't get it.

You need to first jailbreak the phone. If your phone has never been jailbroke before or you didn't save your shsh blobs on 3.1.2 firmware then you cannot currently jailbreak and cannot unlock the phone.

If you want to unlock, you better not do anymore update on your iphone and back up your shsh blogs now.
The latest fw umbrella allows you to backup your 4.0.1 shsh blogs, the link is here :

When will there be a jailbreak for us that didnt save our SHSH blobs?

ive been without my phone ever since rollout of 4.0, i miss my baby. I have to revert back to this crummy Storm 1 hahaha...wait waaaahhhhhhhhhh!
