NEW iPhone 3GS Just Bought Need to Unlock

Go easy on me. I'm pretty new at this. So I just bought a new Iphone 3gs from a seller but it isn't working. I use T-mobile but he said I can unlock it. I'm stuck at the part where it says "Slide for emergency." I'm thinking it could to be unlock or jailbroken. I have tried using ultrasnow for downgrade since he updated to iOS 4. But it didn't work. I asked around and some say it can't be unlocked and some say I can downgrade it. This is a new iphone. Am I really stuck or is there a way?

You are stuck at the moment, there is no jailbreak at iOS 4.0 yet. There will be one soon but no definite release date. By the way, Ultrasn0w is not a downgrading tool.

Also, some say any old AT&T sim will activate the phone --- some say it doesn't. An active AT&T sim will for sure. While you're waiting, you might give it a try. If it works, you could use it as an iPod

Where can I check for the release for jailbreak iOS 4.0? Or do I just google it and hope it'll be out soon?
