iphone 3gs ios4 old boot rom jailbreak and unlock

i just checked and i have the old boot rom with ios 4, so this means i can jailbreak and unlock right? could you please direct me to where i should jailbreak and unlock. im new here so please be nice. thanks to everyone

not possible right now. in order to pull off the jailbreak on the 3GS running ios 4 with old bootrom(359.3), you have to already have a previously jailbroken iPhone. If your running the stock ios 4 you downloaded and installed from Apple through iTunes, your gonna have to sit patiently until the new jailbreak is released which should be within the next 2 weeks or so.

i bought it off ebay from someone who had never unlocked it before and he updated it to ios4 before he sold it to me. so i cant jailbreak it unless he had jailbroken it before (which i know he hasn't) so i just have to wait? that blows, but il still be patient. thanks

But i'd wait since this phone is alot newer xD with no scratches.

When i read on the downgrade it says nothing about ssh blobs then suddenly we have to have ssh

I have an iPhone 3GS. My iphone has been jailbroken before (when I had 3.0 firmware, I used redsn0w I think because I had windows then). Since then, I have upgraded to iOS 4 firmware and lost the jailbreak in the process. I am using the pwnage tool to jailbreak which is complete up until the step that asks me to put my iPhone into recovery mode. Is it safe for me to put my iPhone into recovery mode and continue with the pwnage jailbreak process?

Also, what is a bootrom and how do i determine which one i have?

You've gone with stock firmware then you need to downgrade back to 3.x and JB again. See guide for how to do it. I hope you have SHSH files saved.

Once your JB again then upgrade using sn0wbreeze or pwnagetool to 4.0 then ultrasn0w to unlock.

If you can't downgrade then your stuck until there are new tools.
