Original iPhone (2g I believe) unlock

Hi,

I have the original iPhone, which I believe is termed the 2g iphone. My grandfather is visiting from Romania and I'd like to take his Sim card out of his Vodafone phone and put it in my old iPhone 2G. I was wondering what I need to do to unlock it. I tried all last night to get redsn0w to work, but it doesn;t recognize the ipsw. I updated the phone to 3.1.3 as a tutorial said, but redsn0w can't seem to open the file that I used to restore the phone with.

Use 3.1.2 ipsw not 3.1.3

I just did the exact same thing last night (JB and unlock) a 2g with redsn0w last night; it couldn't have been easier. Is this the file you used iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw ? If it isn't then that's the one you need. If it is then maybe try downloading it again.
