Lose unlock after new battery

Could anyone please tell me, would I lose my Unlock after having a new battery in my 3G S,

Only if the person that does it switches your logic board or updates it (which he shouldn't)

a bit unrelated to your question but are you upgrading your battery or just replacing it with an equivalent one?

Maybe it's just me, but if the phone got sent to Apple, it wouldn't surprise me if Apple had the "curtacy" to update your phone and thus lock it. Knowing how they have been about this stuff it just wouldn't surprise me if they checked phones they got for battery work.
